Does anyone else do this?
When I’m watching an advert, or a film, or a TV series, or anything that’s been recorded a while back and is only just being broadcast - when I watch them I often ask, “I wonder what I was doing the exact moment that was being recorded?” You’re literally looking into the past. ANYTHING could be going on in the world when that was recorded. Anyone else do this…?

Tip of the Day
It is quite hard to sleep when you have two cats sleeping on opposite sides of the bed. You basically cannot twist, turn, or toss.

unwell
do i: A) soldier on with an inflated chest and high chin, asserting, ‘i won’t let this cold hinder me at all!’ potentially perpetuating it. or B) accept my fate with a forlorn tear and watch as many episodes of Adventure Time as law allows.

Probably my favourite running gag throughout all of ‘Game of Thrones’ was Arya constantly being mistaken as a boy. It made me giggle like a middle-aged woman.

Another of those ‘Why did it take me so long to know this existed?’ instances. I should probably be glad it took me this long to watch it since the second season debuts at the start of April. It’ll be a long 3 months… I’m only on episode 4, so I beseech those who have watched all of season 1 not to spoil it. Thank you. Also, if your name is Emilia Clarke, give me a...

time for a haircut...?
My hair alternates between A New Hope Mark Hamill, and a miniature 1980s metal mullet. This all depends on what mood it is in.

3.5 deep sleep dreams
I’m not sure what order these happened, as they all kind of slipped in and out of each other: 1) I was a guest at the family treehouse of a girl who was in the year below me at school. I only recently realised how attractive she is. Her older brother - who I also know - came back and started talking to me, and it was an ordinary family gathering. However, I remember her being on a settee on...

I recently completed Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates. It may be depressing as hell, but I admire Yates’ style. It feels so simple and free-flowing, and he’s not afraid to add little touches or parentheses to a larger sentence when another writer would probably use a whole other sentence to provide that snippet of information. (What always springs to mind, for me, is in Disturbing...

i’ve looked at various blogs the past few weeks and it surprises me how many of them contain unnecessary anger. nearly all of them have a sentence along the lines of, ‘i post what i want and if you don’t like it then piss off,’ either in their about/faq pages, or on their main page. i find it weird that people feel the need to be so austere right from the get go....

Islay in a nutshell
- almost ran over a couple of sheep on a few different occasions - several highland cows scowled at me - lambasted by a newspaper editor, calling us ‘naive young boys’, and then took our picture for the following fortnight’s edition - slept in an old couple’s cottage without the old couple - dined with a pleasant local couple and ate sumptuous local fish - met an...

For the next week
I shall be out of reach. MI6 contacted me and said, ‘James Bond is unavailable. He’s busy getting close and kinky with a higher upper official in an unspecified country. You know what we mean *wink wink*. So we’ve turned to the next best thing.’ I can’t go into specifics, but I’m going to be a big deal. Whatever the biggest news story of the next 7 days will...

One of my friends candidly informed me that I remind her of Brian from Family Guy - in mannerisms only, though. It’s the most peculiar compliment (…?) I’ve received, and I honestly don’t see the resemblance. I will, however, go on record saying that Peter on ecstasy would find my ears much softer than Brian’s.

Tread gently on anyone who looks at you sideways. Have lots of long lie-ins. Wear sturdy socks, learn how to grow out of your medium underwear and, if you must lie about your age, do it in the other direction: tell people you’re 97 and they’ll think you look fucking great. Try to catch a trout and experience the glorious feeling of letting it go and seeing it swimming away. Never eat...

i had the most peculiar dream last night
It involved me, Tony Soprano, two dead bodies (one of whom was Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter), cops snooping around, and both dead bodies coming back to life. I guess this is what happens when you watch the whole of The Sopranos and then two Harry Potter films in close proximity.

Just over two months ago, I told the world that I had decided to re-watch The Sopranos from the very beginning. Tonight, I have completed it, and I could quite easily put disc one of the first season in the dvd player tomorrow, and watch the whole thing all over again. That’s how much I’ve enjoyed it, and this was my 3rd time watching it as well. As I think of early episodes,...
